ANALYSIS

Hodan has been making a name for himself since 2008, scoring 13 goals in 26 games with FC Milwaukee U16 in USSDA. He played four seasons with FC Milwaukee, playing 95 games and scoring 43 goals between both the U16 and U18 levels. He also lead Marquette High School to the 2011 Wisconsin Division 1 title, scoring 45 goals in 20 games, winning Wisconsin Player of the Year and was an NSCAA High School All-American.

The attacking midfielder joined Notre Dame, where Head Coach Bobby Clark said “Patrick is a kid that can really score goals. We feel his best role is playing underneath the main striker. I think he also can play in the midfield or as a high striker. He has a nose for the goal. He has that special quality of calmness around the goal. He’s also very creative.” Hodan spent his freshman season coming off the bench, but still scored six goals and had four assists in 22 total games.

During Notre Dame’s 2013 NCAA D1 Championship run, Holden played 22 games, starting 15, scoring 11 goals, providing three assists and producing 30 shots on target. Last season Patrick played in 21 games, starting 12, scoring nine and providing three assists. His 26 career goals is one of the highest number of active NCAA – D1 players. Hodan is a very strong student and won the ACC Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the year.

Patrick Hodan came to Notre Dame as a forward, but has excelled more as an attacking midfielder. Hodan has a willingness to score and in most situations and capitalize on those opportunities. Patrick has good speed and is capable of dribbling with the ball, however his overall athleticism is an issue when projecting him to the professional level. In front of a strong holding midfield, Holden can be an asset or used as a second striker partnered up with a more athletic forward.
