ANALYSIS

Ismael defense has been the attacking force behind Panama’s second place finishes in the 2013 U-17 Championship and the 2015 U-20 tournament scoring three goals in the U-17 tournament and 4 goals in the U-20 tournament as a 17 year old. He also played twice with the Panamanian National team scoring in his debut against Cuba and he also played against the United States

Domestically, Diaz plays for Tauro FC where he has played professionally since he was 15 and scored his first professional goal at 16 although he has been used sparingly the last three seasons playing only 27 league games and scoring three goals. He also started three CONCACAF Champions League including both games against DC United where he had shots on target.

At 17 Diaz is gangly and needs to put on more weight and improve his overall conditioning although was able to hold his own playing against defenders a number of years older than him. He got good speed and better acceleration chasing down long balls and can also run at defenders with the ball at his feet. He needs to learn to be more dominant in the box although has good athletic and jumping ability and capable of scoring headed goals.
