ANALYSIS:

Aaron comes from El Paso, Texas and played youth soccer including FC Dallas Academy affiliate club in El Paso. In 2011, he moved to FC Dallas U18 USSDA side and played in 34 games helping them win the USSDA championship. Guillen made three reserve appearances for FC Dallas during the 2012 season. He was also named Defensive Player of the Year in El Paso well attending Coronado High School.

Guillen joined Florida Gulf Coast University and was a starter in all his 68 games at the school except one. Aaron scored one goal and added four assists playing a combination of center back and full back. He was named to the 2012 Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team and First Team All-Conference in 2013, 2014 and 2015. In a post career interview FGCU Head Coach Bob Butehorn said “Aaron is extremely fast, He’s got great range, He’s one of those guys who frustrated attacking players. He’s smart, He’s competitive, and relentless.” Guillen also played for the 2013 Austin Aztex who on the PDL championship.

Aaron signed a homegrown contract with FC Dallas on January 5th, 2016. He was the 14th Homegrown signing in club history and the fifth form his FC Dallas USSDA U-18 team. His greatest asset as a pro will be the fact he is naturally left footed and versatile being comfortable at both full back and center back. He most likely doesn’t have the size or strength to be center back but as a good enough engine to be a quality defensive full-back. Guillen maybe asked to join FC Dallas USL affiliate OKC Energy to guarantee himself minutes and establish himself as pro ready although as a left back it should give him a great opportunity to play MLS for a number of seasons.
