ANALYSIS:

Daniel came to the MLS in an unusual fashion. Salloi comes from the Ujpest FC youth system in Budapest Hungary, but came to the States in 2014 as part of a student exchange program. Son of former Hungarian International Istavan Salloi, who scored 130 goals in his career and was capped 16 times, Salloi joined the Sporting KC Academy and played in 25 games for the their U-18 USSDA side scoring 18 goals.

Daniel returned to Hungary and was promoted to the senior team by Upjest, playing 12 games in the top Hungarian division the NB1 scoring his first professional goal and adding an assist. Although instead of remaining in Europe, Salloi chose to sign a MLS Homegrown contract with Sporting KC for the 2016 season. When signing Sporting KC manager said “Daniel is a young player with a lot of potential. I look forward to seeing his progression with our club.”

Daniel has good size at 6’1 and speed and can score either with the ball at his feet or as a target man. He has strong technical skills and can beat a defender 1v1. He works well pressuring defenders and can also take a defensive mistake and turned it into a scoring opportunity. He is not afraid to shoot and can score from distance and bad angles. Where he needs improvement is his general teamwork which could potential allowing him to play on the wing making him a more versatile player.  Salloi should spend time at Sporting KC affiliate USL side Swope Park Rangers, but he looks further developed then American players in his age group and could make an impact with the MLS team this season.
