ANALYSIS:

From Heath, Texas, Chase led his high school side Rockwall-Heath to the 4A Quarter-Finals and was named Offensive MVP for his region. He signed with USSDA side Dallas Texans and was part of their U16 USSDA title run in 2009. Minter played for the Texans U18 side in 2010-2011 before moving to California to attend school at Cal Poly.

Chase redshirted his freshman season after only playing in one game. He also played one PDL game in 2011 with Des Moines. As a redshirt freshman, Minter was used as a sub and contributed two assists in 18 games but had a very successful PDL campaign in 2013 scoring three goals and four assists in 10 games. He was also an everyday starter in his traditional attacking midfield role and has been since finishing his career with a National Championship Tournament lost to UCLA in 2015. In total Chase played 78 games for the Mustangs starting 67 of them. He scored 16 goals and contributed 18 direct assists. He was named Big West player of the year in 2014 and was named midfielder of the year in 2015.

Minter is one of the more offensive minded midfielder in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, but probably doesn’t have the skill set to be a starting attacking midfielder and will likely be asked to play deeper or on the wing in MLS. He does have the ability for the spectacular taking shots from outside the box as well as attempting and scoring bicycle kicks from in the box. He also looks for the breakthrough or through ball pass and could be useful as a deep playmaker on a team that is looking to counter and break. Chase was invited to the MLS Combine and will be available in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
