ANALYSIS:

Mitchell Taintor is an aggressive holding midfielder/central defender with a well decorated youth career in the New England area. From Storrs, Connecticut, Taintor played in the Olympic Development Team and Super Y League before moving to the New England Revolution Academy team. He played three seasons with the MLS clubs USSDA team, 58 games with the U16 team and 24 games with the U18 team before joining Rutgers University.

In his four years at Rutgers, Mitchell split time as a centre-back and holding midfielder, playing in 71 games, starting 67 games, he scored 13 goals and added six goals well was also given 17 yellow cards. In 2015, Traitor was allowed to take more chances offensively which led to him scoring five goals and adding four assists and being named to the All-Big Ten Second Team. He also played two seasons with Real Boston in PDL.

Taintor has good size and strength and might be the most aggressive player, who isn’t afraid of tackling or challenge a player 1v1. Although as with many aggressive players this can hurt him especially if up against a quicker or intelligent attacker. Mitchell is versatile and can play all position in the back as well in central midfield and is comfortable with the ball at his feet although doesn’t have great speed. Taintor qualifies for a homegrown contract by the New England Revolution but was also invited to the MLS Combine so it yet known if he will be in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
