ANALYSIS

Born in Kingston, Jamaica. Brett has built himself up and developed from an unknown quantity with some potential in the Jamaican Premier League to a top collegiate goalscorer with Robert Morris in NCAA Div-1. Standing at only 5-foot-8, what the diminutive forward lacks in size he makes up for with pure speed, high energy and a nose for goal. Robert Morris coach Robert Morris coach Bill Denniston saying of his star player “I think he’s got it all. He’s got talent, he’s got speed and he’s got a little anger and aggressiveness. I’ve had some good ones in the past, but he’s the first one that’s had it all.”

For his country, he has been a rising talent coming out of Excelcior high school. Brett drew attention from top collegiate soccer programs while with the Jamaican U-20 team, but selected the Colonials for their strong commitment to growing and nurturing Jamaican talent in the past. The tradition continues with the current team, as Brett is one of four players from the island on the squad. In his last two seasons at Robert Morris, Brett has contributed in a major way leading the nation with 36 points in 2013. He has also been a lethal goal threat, finishing with 14 goals in 2013, 15 goals in 2014 and 13 goals in 2015.

Brett was drafted 40th overall by the Portland Timbers in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, likely will be splitting time with first team and Timbers 2 in USL.
