ANALYSIS

A Perth native, started playing club soccer with Olympic Kingsway and FW NTC before joining the Perth Glory on a youth contract. After success with the Australia U-20 national team including winning man of the match performance against Colombia in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup and had interest from Europe including a dell with English Premier League club Everton that fell through due to work permit issues.

De Silva made his Australian A-League debut against Sydney on March 2nd, 2013 at 16 years old making him the second youngest player in A-League history. De Silva played three games in 2012-2013 and a further 11 league games during the 2013-2014 season. Daniel played a more significant role during the 2014-2015 season where he played in 18 games and scored three goals and added one assist. Perth made an agreement with AS Roma that will Daniel see him join the Italian Serie A club for a multi-million pound transfer fee.

De Silva is known as a technically gifted midfielder with great balance who can play either on the left or right side of the midfield. He has good speed and is capable to play a full 90, and is expected to improve his overall strength as he grows into his height. He showed signs as a goal scorer during the 2014-2015 season including the ability to shoot from distance and volley over the keeper. He will need to improve his defensive awareness and responsibility if he wishes to make an impact in Italian Serie A.
