ANALYSIS:

Alex Muyl is an attacking player with a history of setting up teammates for goals as much as wanting to score himself. Listed as a forward or a winger, as a pro, Muyl might be moved into a more wide midfield role to take advantage of his ability to cross the ball and set up play. That said, he doesn’t have the natural speed that other wingers or wide midfielders provide.

Before joining the Red Bulls Academy, Muyl played games with BW Gottschee U-16 club in the USSDA as well as training with the IMG Academy. He signed with the Red Bulls Academy U-16 team in 2011-2012 and made an immediate impact, scoring 17 goals in 28 games. He moved up to the U-18 team in 2012-2013, scoring 20 goals and played three games for the New York Red Bulls MLS reserve team.

Muyl signed with Georgetown University and joined fellow New York Red Bulls Academy player Brandon Allen. With Allen taking the role of center forward Muyl was put in more Attacking Midfielder role playing on the wings as well as behind Allen. Alex played 62 games in his career for the Hoyas starting 51 of them and scored 12 goals and added 24 direct assists well he had 69 shots on target.

Alex chose to forgo his senior season at Georgetown and signed a homegrown contract with the New York Red Bulls along with three other players, including his college teammate Brandon Allen. Muyl looks to start his career with the New York Red Bulls II in USL, most likely being asked to play a role similar to current New York Red Bull player Mike Grella in an attacking wing position.
