ANALYSIS:

One of the more exciting players from a smaller country in CONCACAF, Oalex started making a name for himself when he made his international debut with St Vincent & Grenadines at the age of 18. Since then the Barrouallie native has scored 10 goals in 20 senior international matches for his country which has gained him the nickname “Bounty”. Anderson started playing soccer with System 3 FC in St. Vincent making the top tier debut at 16 and was the league’s leading scorer in 2013-2014 at the age of 18.

Anderson was loaned out to Antigua and Barbuda Premier Division side Grenades FC where he scored 12 goals in 18 games finishing second for the league leader in goals. He was then signed by Sounders 2 in USL on April 11th, 2015. Oalex played in 16 games for Sounders 2 scoring four goals and was invited to Sounders MLS teams training camp at the beginning of the 2016 season. Anderson impressed and was offered a MLS contract on March 1st, 2016. Seattle Sounders GM said “Oalex has a lot of potential, which he showed last season, and we’re happy to him join the senior squad ahead of the 2016 MLS season.”

Oalex has primarily played forward due to his native country having limited option although as a pro player he fits better as a winger and might have been one of the fastest players in USL last season. Anderson speed allows him to run by almost any defender but he can also hold up the ball or make the first the move to give him space. Anderson looks for the foul to often and sometimes too confident on the ball which can lead to him losing the ball well in possession. He is a very raw talent although the fact he is automatic for his country at an international level means he has opportunity that other players don’t have which should help with his overall development.
