ANALYSIS:

From Oberschwarzach, Germany, Timo played youth soccer for FC Gerolzhofen before signing with 1FC Schweinfurt 05 in the Bayenliga as an 18-year-old. Pitter played two full seasons with Schweinfurt playing in 50 games and scoring nine goals and established himself in the starting eleven. Timo started the 2012-2013 season with Schweinfurt, but was offered a scholarship to Creighton and chose to come to the United States.

Timo started for Creighton in his first game and soon established himself in an attacking midfielder/forward position scoring 10 goals during his freshman season and winning freshman of the Year in the Missouri Valley Conference being named to many National All-Freshman teams and first team All-MVC. The team made it to the final four in the National Tournament losing to Indiana in the semi-finals. Clemson moved conference to the Big East with Timo winning Big East Midfielder of the Year twice and on the conference first team twice and second team once. Pitter played 89 games for the Blue Jays scoring 33 goals and adding 20 assists.

Pitter was drafted 33rd overall by FC Dallas in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft and after a strong pre-season showing was offered a professional contract by the Texas club. Pitter experience gives him and on field awareness many MLS rookies don’t have this season. Timo is a very technical player and uses finesse to create opportunities for both his shooting and passing. He is a sold dribbler and capable of talking players on 1v1 well also having confidence on the ball to create opportunities for himself or his teammates. The issue regarding Pitter is as a pro he will not have the experience advantage over his opponent as he had in college and also may struggle physically both with his strength and speed.
